November 18, 1989 Joe Richards intercepts a pass with less than two minutes left to end a Notre Dame scoring threat and lift Marian to a 6-3 victory and the District 11 Class A championship. The Crusaders drive to the Colts' seven-yard line but pressure from Brian Rafferty and Mike Hosak force Richards' pick at the goal line. Joe Gillespie's one-yard plunge, set up by a 31-yard scamper from Mark Hrebik, was the game's lone touchdown.
