Woman trashes Tamaqua home

Tamaqua police responded to a disturbance call at 4:20 p.m. on March 8 in the 300 block of Orwigsburg Street and found debris scattered on the sidewalk and roadway. There were even some items hanging from a power line as well as several smashed windows.

As the officer approached the home he could hear water running. Looking in through one of the windows he could also see items tossed about the inside as well as overturned furniture. Water was spraying from the kitchen area, pooling on the floor.

Entering through an unlocked door, the officer called out but didn’t get a response. He turned off the water to prevent further damage then went through the house to see if anyone was still inside.

He found Joan (Blevins) Belford upstairs in one of the bedrooms. She refused to speak to him and was taken to the police station to be positively identified.

She was cited for disorderly conduct and scattering rubbish.
