Woman charged after striking police officer

Tamaqua police reported the following incidents:

A Tamaqua woman was charged following a domestic dispute in the borough on April 6.

Officers were called to a home in the 600 block of East Broad Street at 12:19 p.m. As they entered the living room officers saw an open butterfly knife, a mirror with a powdery residue and a credit/debit card with the name Kimberly Fahringer.

When told she was being arrested, Fahringer became combative, striking one of the officers in the face, breaking his glasses. She continued to fight until she was subdued and secured.

A field test on the mirror residue was positive for methamphetamine, while powder found on some bags was positive for fentanyl.

Fahringer was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, simple assault, criminal mischief and resisting arrest.
