4,035 new virus cases in Pa.; Schuylkill adds 55 cases

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed Saturday that there were 4,035 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 227,985. This is the highest daily increase of cases.

There are 9,015 deaths attributed to COVID-19, an increase of 40 new deaths reported. There are 1,597 individuals hospitalized with COVID-19. Of that number, 345 patients are in the intensive care unit with COVID-19. Most of the patients hospitalized are ages 65 or older, and most of the deaths have occurred in patients 65 or older.

In nursing and personal care homes, there are 27,333 resident cases of COVID-19, and 5,849 cases among employees, for a total of 33,182 at 1,115 distinct facilities in 63 counties. Out of our total deaths, 5,906 have occurred in residents from nursing or personal care facilities. A county breakdown can be found here.

Approximately 12,883 of our total cases are among health care workers.

• Carbon County is reporting 707 cases, an increase of 13 cases. Deaths attributed to COVID-19 remain at 32.

• Lehigh County is reporting 7,439 cases, an increase of 149. One additional death has been reported for a total of 372.

• Luzerne County reported an increase of 97 cases, bringing the total to 6,045. Three additional deaths have been recorded for a total of 214.

• Monroe County has 31 new cases, bringing the total to 2,242. Deaths remain at 135.

• Northampton County has 6,004 cases, an increase of 93 cases. Three additional deaths have been reported for a total of 319.

• Schuylkill County has 2,421 cases, an increase of 55 cases. One additional death has been reported for a total of 113.
