Tamaqua woman charged after domestic dispute

A Tamaqua woman has been charged in a domestic dispute that caused injuries to her daughter.

Tamaqua police were called to the 700 block of East Broad Street at 5:14 p.m. on Feb. 5. They found Lara McHugh, 38, sitting outside on the steps. She told them she had been involved in an altercation with her daughter.

Inside officers found the victim in the kitchen. There was blood on her face, on her clothing, the floor, a kitchen counter and several bloody towels. The girl said her mother became angry when she put a pan inside the oven instead of on top of the stove while doing the dishes, which led the victim to slam the pan on top of the stove. She was grabbed by the hair and punched in the face multiple times, causing her nose to bleed. She was grabbed again and shoved against a wall.

McHugh was charged with simple assault and harassment.
