Tamaqua man jailed after assault

David John Brode, 28, of North Nescopec Street, Tamaqua, was taken to the Schuylkill County Prison in Pottsville on Sunday, July 15, after being arraigned on charges related to a domestic assault.

Tamaqua police were called to North Nescopec Street at 3:34 a.m. and met with the victim, who said she had been punched in the face repeatedly by Brode after she went to his apartment to check on him. He dragged her from room to room, by the hair, and placed her against the wall in a choke hold until she passed out, police said.

The victim was transported to a hospital for treatment of her injuries.

Brode was arraigned before on-call District Judge Christina Hale, of Frackville, on charges of strangulation, aggravated assault, unlawful restraint, reckless endangerment, disorderly conduct and harassment.

Bail was set at $25,000, which he was unable to post.
