A Schuylkill County man is facing charges after he was allegedly caught in the act of trying to break into a home and vehicle.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Ricky Trate, 42, of Auburn, is facing charges that include burglary and related offenses.

According to troopers on Sunday at 3:49 p.m. Trate attempted to steal a gun and other possessions from a vehicle parked along Green Tree Drive in West Brunswick Township. He also attempted to break into the residence but was caught when the owner arrived home.

Trate was arraigned before on-call District Judge James Ferrier, of Orwigsburg, and committed to the county prison in Pottsville after failing to post $15,000 bail.
