School property tax elimination

I am writing this letter because, like others, I am tired of waiting for school property tax elimination. It has been about 25 years or longer that our elected officials in Harrisburg have been talking about it. Yes, I mean talking.

In those 25 years of talking, thousands of senior citizens have lost their homes to that dreaded school property tax. Why do we keep sending these same politicians back to Harrisburg? They know what people want, but our wishes fall on deaf ears. I know there is a great bill out there called SB/HB 76, which I am in favor of, but it just can’t seem to get enough votes to pass. Therefore, why can’t one of our politicians introduce a bill to eliminate the tax, just for seniors, until they get enough votes for everyone to get elimination?

I believe when you reach 65 years of age, you have paid your share of school tax. After all, I believe we are No. 2 in the U.S. senior per capita. Our politicians in Harrisburg should start working for us instead of worrying about their interests.

Finally, I would like to challenge state Reps. Doyle Heffley and Jerry Knowles, and state Sens. David Argall and John Yudichak to step up to the plate and go to bat for our senior citizens in Pennsylvania so that the burden of that dreadful school property tax would be lifted from them, and then be able to say they earned their seats in Harrisburg.

Thanks,

Joe Kosalko,

Summit Hill
