Northwestern softball team captures Parkland League title

The Northwestern Black 18U Parkland League softball team took first place by winning the playoff championship game. The team came back from a six-run deficit to tie the game in the seventh inning. After two extra innings, Northwestern came out on top with a 13-11 victory over SPYA Grey in a game that took nearly three hours to complete. Northwestern was the youngest team in that age level, being made up of 14- and 15-year-old players. They finished the regular season in second place with a record of 8-4, scoring 141 runs and giving up 95. The team went 3-0 in the postseason to finish at 11-4 overall. Members of the team include Caitlyn Miller, Brynn Buschta, Kylie Masters, Rachel Anderson, Novalie Duffy, Jordan Rottmann, Danielle Leto, Adana Funk, Kate Betz, Abigail Snyder, Kelsea Kaschak and Taya Foster. The team was coached by Chuck Snyder and Dan Funk.
