Nesquehoning council

Nesquehoning Borough Council took the following action during its monthly meeting last week.

• Reappointed Brior Environmental Services Inc. as the borough code enforcement officer.

• Thanked Barry Isett & Associates for providing $3,300 worth of services for grant assistance in 2018.

• Ratified the appointment of Carrie Fox as the Nesquehoning representative for the Dimmick Memorial Library Board.

• Voted to offer a part-time police officer position to Anthony Campanell pending him meeting all necessary requirements.

• Approved the dumpster ordinance in the borough, setting fees and time limits for dumpsters on borough streets.

• Changed the 2019 regular borough council meeting time to 6:30 p.m.

• Discussed Eastern Environmental stopping the renovation project at the sewer plant. The $500,000 project was already supposed to be completed and has not been. The project will begin again on April 15 and is supposed to be completed by May 3 or the company faces financial penalties for the delays. In November, council discussed how the company had not met their time line for the project and the delays could possibly cause future problems.
