Lansford man facing theft count

A Lansford man is facing a charge of theft of services after he failed to pay a taxi service its charge for transporting him to the area from the Lehigh Valley area.

Summit Hill police said on March 8 about 4:05 p.m. they were dispatched to the area of Oak and White streets for a theft incident. On scene officers spoke with an employee of Yourway Transportation Taxi. He told officers he was transporting a man from Bethlehem to Lansford. He said the man asked him to stop at Oak and White streets. He said the man then fled the taxi without paying the service fee of $167.50.

Police located a man matching the description and he was positively identified as the suspect by the taxi driver. Police said the man was Matthew Scott Creveling, 31, of the 500 block of East Bertsch Street.

After being advised of his rights, Creveling gave a written statement admitting to the theft of services.
