Julianna Evans of Jim Thorpe was awarded the Jennifer Diskin scholarship on June 21. The Jennifer Diskin scholarship is awarded to a student with demonstrated need and talent and a commitment to studying poetry. It is given in honor of alumna Jennifer Diskin, who passed away after a brave struggle with cancer. Started by her family, poetry faculty members nominate students who are already in the program.

Evans is pursuing her master of arts in creative writing with a concentration in poetry at Wilkes University’s Maslow Family Graduate Program in Creative Writing. Evans is working with Wilkes creative writing faculty member Rashidah Ismaili Abubakr on her creative thesis.
