ES South top Bears

East Stroudsburg South didn’t waste any time.

The Cavaliers scored on the first play of the game, and dominated Pleasant Valley Friday night 49-19 in an Eastern Pennsylvania Conference contest.

Ryan Clark raced 45 yards for a touchdown to open the scoring for ES South. Minutes later, quarterback Braydan Mitchell threw an 81-yard pass to Christian Sapp to psuh the Cavaliers lead to 14-0.

“You watch their linemen on offense and defense,” Kosciolek said. “They get after it, they get off the ball quick and they just get on you and after you. That makes it tough because know you’re relying on your second-and-third level defenders to make plays and their running back’s got a full head of steam, and the kid can run the football.”

After Clark broke away for another touchdown run, Pleasant Valley scored its first touchdown of the game on a Nasai Moon six-yard run.

But Moon’s two touchdowns weren’t enough to stop ESS and the Cavaliers rolled to an easy victory in the Bears final home game.

The game reached the mercy rule at halftime when East Stroudsburg South pulled out to a 42-7 lead. Clark accounted for three of the team’s of six first-half touchdowns.

“You’re at a disadvantage already because they’re very good up front and we knew that was going to be a challenge coming into the game,” Kosciolek said. “We didn’t help ourselves out on defense, but offensively, in the first half we had one three-and-out. They scored on four plays and it was 21 points. We’re behind already after five plays of football. We didn’t help ourselves out giving up the big plays.”

And the big plays hurt the Bears, allowing East Stroudsburg South to pull away early on and hold onto the lead they didn’t relinquish.

The Bears did have a passing touchdown in the contest when Gabe Masker found chase Parascando for 26 yards in the third quarter.

ESS’s Mitchell was able to find Noah Goicoecha for a 45-yard score in the second quarter, as the quarterback got even more of his playmakers involved. Both passing plays resulted for two of the game’s four passing touchdowns.
