Monroe man charged with child pornography

A Monroe County man has been arrested on charges of possessing child pornography.

Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen G. Kane's office announced Tuesday the arrest of Alex A. Pummer, 32, of 547 Main St., Tobyhanna.

Pummer was arrested Friday following an investigation initiated by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service.

According to the criminal complaint, Pummer made several purchases of child pornography from a business that marketed "naturist" videos of nude children.

Agents from the Office of Attorney General's Child Predator Section and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service executed a search warrant at Pummer's residence and located multiple computers and electronic devices.

A forensic analysis of the computers and related items by the Office of Attorney General's Computer Forensics Unit revealed multiple images of child pornography.

Pummer is charged with 60 counts of possession of child pornography and one count of criminal use of a communication facility.

He is confined to the Monroe County Prison after failing to post $250,000 bail.

A preliminary hearing is tentatively scheduled for May 25.
