Carbon aging agency director gone from position

Longtime Carbon County Area Agency on Aging administrator Cheri Santore no longer holds that position as of Aug. 14.

County commissioners on Thursday accepted a personnel report that lists Santore under "employment separations."Asked for more information, commissioners Chairman Wayne Nothstein said it was a "personnel matter" and declined to comment.Santore did not immediately return a telephone call.She was hired for the administrator's job in September 2006.In other personnel moves, part-time corrections officer Andrea A. Reyes Jr. of Bethlehem was also separated from employment.Kara M. Beck of Lehighton resigned from her summer law clerk position as of Aug. 18, and Nicholas M. DeMaio of Jim Thorpe resigned his post as corrections officer as of Aug. 14.Frank J. Jacobs II of Nesquehoning was court appointed to the county Election Board as of Aug. 7.Three part-time corrections officers are now classified as Teamsters members: Lori J. Ahner of Palmerton, Ryan A. German of Bethlehem, and James S. Romankow of Lansford.Two others changed their status from union to non-union corrections officers: Linda C. Curry of Lansford, Christopher M. Toro of Hazleton, who went from part-time corrections officer to corrections officer.TrainingCommissioners also approved requests for seminars and training.Area Agency on Aging: Susan Zeigler for a webinar on Managed Care 101; Deena Fital and Zeigler for an Apprise monthly webinar; and Francine Craigie, Carol Heffelfinger, Connie Lynn, Pamela Schleicher, Judith Cupps, Anne Horrigan, Mary Ann Marzen, Patricia Schmalzriedt, Eva Labanoski, Theresa Milberger, Ethel White, Zeigler and Fital for a National Voter Registration Act webinar.Corrections: Warden Timothy Fritz for the Pennsylvania County Corrections Association fall conference in Harrisburg; Roberta Kennedy for the PIMCC Nurses' Seminar: Managing the Physical and Mental Care of Inmates, also in Harrisburg.Sheriff's Office: Carl Bachert, Kristy Cummins, Anthony Harvilla, Daniel McLean Jr., Michael Zavagansky, Robert Blisard, Karen Flexer, Christopher Lekka, Ryan Rehatchek, James Bonner, Joseph Hager, Daniel Long, and Matthew Williams, all for Act 2 update training in Bethlehem. The county will pay for their meals.Tax Assessment: Jolaine Herman and Kathy McGuire for an NECAAP Chapter meeting on assessment administration: Developing a Winning Team, in Freeland. The cost is $25 per person plus mileage if a county vehicle is not available.Juvenile Court: ommissioners acknowledged that Joseph Greco plans to attend the Pennsylvania Conference on Juvenile Justice, Harrisburg. The cost is a $300 conference fee plus lodging and meals.
