Nesquehoning police report on incidents

Nesquehoning police on Friday stopped a man they believe was driving under the influence of drugs.

At 3:15 p.m. patrolman Robert Blisard saw a black Ford Explorer with an expired inspection sticker in the 400 block of West Railroad Street. Blisard stopped the car in the McDonald's parking lot.During the investigation, he found 10 bags of heroin on the driver, identified as Jonathan O'Gurek. Blisard noticed that O'Gurek appeared to be inebriated. O'Gurek was arrested under suspicion of driving under the influence of narcotics. Charges are pending.O'Gurek's age and address were not available as of late Wednesday.On Monday, July 28, at about 12:30 p.m., Chief Sean Smith was dispatched to a two-car crash at 243 Stock St., which is also Route 54.He saw two vehicles with moderate damage that were off the road and on private property. Smith found that one car was traveling west and had stopped while preparing to turn using proper signaling.The driver of a vehicle behind the one that was stopped failed to notice it was stopped and veered into the oncoming lane, striking the first vehicle as it was turning.Both vehicles were towed. The driver of the vehicle that struck the first one was cited with overtaking on the left, careless driving at an unsafe speed.Police did not release the names of either driver.In another incident, at 9:30 a.m. July 18, Smith saw a gray Dodge pickup driven by a man he knows as Waldemar Volkers, traveling west on Route 54 near the Valero gas station.Smith knew Volker's license had been suspended. He stopped him and cited him for driving with a suspended license.
