Some area schools are closing ahead of the storm that is supposed to hit overnight.

According to The National Weather Service, the area may see 6 to 10 inches of snow mixed with sleet and freezing rain near morning. The storm is expected to move out of the area Monday afternoon.

So far schools closed on Monday are:

Jim Thorpe

Lehighton

Marian Catholic

Our Lady of the Angels

Palmerton

Panther Valley

Pleasant Valley

St. Jerome's, Tamaqua

St. John Neumann, Palmerton

St. Joseph Regional, Jim Thorpe
