Blazosky on ballot Lansford man easily wins coroner spot

In what was a highly contested Carbon County coroner race, it was Daniel J. Blazosky of Lansford who came out on top of the primary election Tuesday.

After all the votes were tallied, Blazosky had garnered 2,267 votes on the Democratic ticket.His opponents were Robert W. Miller Jr., who received 1,260 votes; Paul Hoffman, 618; Ray H. Bossard, 562; and Gerald D. Jones, 405.There were no candidates running on the Republican ticket, however a total of 814 write-in votes were cast for the position. The results of the write-in votes have not yet been released.Coroner Bruce Nalesnik did not seek re-election for the position.Blazosky, who was seeking his first term as the coroner, is a lifelong resident of the Panther Valley area. He is married to the former Meghan Crampsie and the couple has one daughter, Danika, 4.He currently is the supervisor of the Sverchek-Blazosky Funeral Home in Lansford and as a funeral director for the Joseph S. Blazosky Funeral Home in Nesquehoning.
