Lehigh Twp. National Night Out draws community support

Lehigh Township’s National Night Out was a success, according to township officials, with local organizations, businesses and community groups participating in the annual event.

Township supervisors and volunteers operated the refreshment stand, serving hamburgers, hot dogs, pizza and haluski for donations.

Among the vendors and organizations in attendance were Paulette Johnson Bookkeeping Service; Tracy Lelo of A Touch of Light Energetic Healing & Reflexology; and Aaron Gasparetti of U.S. Rep. Ryan Mackenzie’s office, who distributed information on student aid guides, passports and scam prevention.

Other participants included Neffs National Bank; R.P. Snyder Insurance/Erie Insurance; Keller Williams Real Estate; the Lehigh Township Fire Company; Blue Mountain Fish and Game; the Pennsylvania State Game Warden; Pritchard Company Drywall Construction; Rita’s Italian Ice; the Lehigh Township Lioness Lions Club; Scoopendorfs Ice Cream; the Lehigh Township Lions Club; and the Northampton County 911 Telecommunications Center.

The Lehigh Township Fire Company handed out coloring books, bags and toy fire helmets. Blue Mountain Fish and Game and the Pennsylvania State Game Warden provided stickers and information about becoming a game warden. Pritchard Company Drywall Construction accepted sign-ups for the township’s annual Christmas Tree Adoption program.

The Lehigh Township Police Department distributed safety information on child passenger restraints, stranger awareness and firearm safety. The department also provided gun locks, held a basket raffle and gave children the opportunity to speak with officers.

Rail Trail volunteers shared information about trail projects and encouraged residents to attend their next meeting at 7 p.m. Oct. 20 at the municipal building, 1069 Municipal Road.

Keep Lehigh Township Beautiful also participated in the event.

Patrick Vander Ploeg, herd manager for Riverview Dairy Farms, provided information about the dairy’s cow herd, distributed free chocolate milk and brought a calf named Jolene, which was born Sept. 8.

The Lehigh Township Historical Society sold mums and promoted its 25th anniversary historical tour of the township, scheduled for Oct. 24.

Bo Miller and Ernie Ferrero, both of Northampton Regional Ambulance, brought Stop The Bleed Kits and demonstrated how to stop a bleed with simulated skin.
