CENTER VALLEY - Regardless of what happened during Tuesday's District 11 Class AAA team tournament quarterfinal, Pleasant Valley knew it could walk off the court satisfied with what it accomplished this season.

Just a week ago, the Lady Bears' tandem of Madison Olexson and Kara Urland became the first Pleasant Valley team in school history to reach the quarterfinal round of the District 11 Class AAA doubles tournament.Prior to that, the Lady Bears qualified three players for the District 11 Class AAA singles tournament, tied for the most of any team in the event.Unfortunately, Pleasant Valley ran into Southern Lehigh in its quarterfinal match, a squad that also happened to have the champion of that aforementioned singles tournament, Nina DeLuna, and a team that went undefeated during the regular season en route to a Colonial League title. The Spartans proved why they were so successful throughout the year, overpowering the Lady Bears with depth and skill on their way to a convincing 5-0 win and a trip to the semifinals.Despite the early exit, a general sense of fulfillment surrounded an accomplished Pleasant Valley team."I am very proud of how my team has done, how I've done and how my doubles partner (Kara Urland) has done," said Olexson, who dropped her No. 1 singles' match 6-0, 6-1 to DeLuna. "But, honestly, it's not really about who I beat, it's just how I feel about myself and making sure I try to better myself every time I go out there."And I think I've improved immensely, through my strategy and my technique, and honestly, I'm just proud of how I've played in general. I'm proud of how we finished out the season, making it to districts in singles, Kara and I advancing in (district) doubles and our team qualifying as well. I'm definitely happy with how it ended. We're such a great team and we all support each other."For the second straight year, Pleasant Valley qualified for the tournament as the No. 7 seed. While undoubtedly hoping for more, Pleasant Valley (11-6) coach Mark Allison admitted he wasn't sure if even that was possible heading into the season."I was worried about the season because we had a really good year last year and we lost a lot of girls from that team," he said. "We only really had two girls with singles experience, and one (Urland) was coming off a major injury and missed most of last season."And I only had one girl with a lot of varsity doubles experience, so we had a lot of new girls that we had to play there. Considering that, I thought they played really well and I thought it was a really good year. I was very pleased."While Allison was concerned about his team's position heading into the season, Southern Lehigh (19-0) coach Andraea Drabenstott conceded she was worried about how her squad would perform after a sizable gap between matches.Drabenstott's fears were quickly put to rest as the Spartans responded by winning all five matches in straight sets, dropping only five games on the process. As Southern Lehigh prepares to take on No. 3 Liberty in the semifinals, Allison took a moment to reflect on what this team meant to him and what it will take to come back even stronger next year."Our seniors did a good job of showing leadership this season, so hopefully our underclassmen will be dedicated moving forward," the coach said. "We have to do a lot of reloading next year, so hopefully our girls will be dedicated and continue to develop by playing in the offseason. It was a good group of seniors and they certainly will be missed."So. Lehigh 5, Pleasant Valley 0SINGLESNina DeLuna (SL) def. Madison Olexson, 6-0, 6-1; Katie Cole (SL) def.
