Area church musician and conductor celebrates 50-year milestone

Randall Douglas Perry of Jim Thorpe was recently recognized for his 50 years of serving as an organist, master of the choristers and church musician at a special worship service at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, where he currently serves, in Trexlertown.

Perry was honored with a special prayer and recognition by the Rev. Al Bastin, pastor, and presented with a card from the church council and the congregation by Kathy Glass, president of the church council.

The Chancel Choir also sang a special hymn honoring Perry.

A reception was held in his honor after the service.

Perry has served parishes such as Zion Lutheran Church in Packerton, St. John’s Lutheran in the Heights in Jim Thorpe, Christ U.C.C. in Jim Thorpe, St. Paul’s Lutheran in Lehighton, St. Mark’s Episcopal in Jim Thorpe for 20 years, Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in Jim Thorpe, Union U.C.C. in Neffs, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Palmerton and St. Paul’s U.C.C. in Trexlertown.

He is also the founder, artistic director and conductor of the Bach and Handel Chorale and Festival Orchestra, based in Jim Thorpe, and owner and instructor at Perry Music Studio in Jim Thorpe, where he teaches students of piano and brass instruments.
