Bowl for Kids Sake Bowl-a-thon for Big Brothers/Big Sisters of the Bridge of Carbon County was held Saturday at Fritz's Lanes, Second Street, Lehighton.
The event brought in 100 bowlers to raise funds for the child/adult mentoring program that provides adult companionship and mentoring capabilities for children who need an adult to care.Mary Schell, caseworker, said there are presently six active matches and 13 children waiting for an adult mentor.Major sponsors for the event were Att. William Schwab, Zion United Church of Christ, Lehighton; R.F. Fuel Ohl, Franklin Township; Jim Thorpe National Bank and Franklin Township Lions Club. Also area businesses also donated toward the event."This is our major fundraiser, which sustains our program," said Schell.
