Two charged with stealing jewelry, big TV, electronics

A man and a woman charged with burglarizing a Lansford residence waived their preliminary hearings last week before District Judge Casimir Kosciolek of Lansford.

Edward L. Rivera Jr., 30, and Felicia Urbanski, 28, both of Tamaqua, are free on unsecured bail. A third party in the case, Charles Grant, also known as "Infinity," according to the affidavit, has an unknown address and hasn't been apprehended.According to Joshua Tom of the Lansford Police Department, the charges stem from an incident that occurred between 10 a.m. and 2:45 p.m. on Dec. 9 at the residence of Amy and Thomas Burns, East Abbott Street, Lansford.Rivera has been charged with burglary, criminal conspiracy, theft, receiving stolen property, and false reports to law enforcement authorities.Urbanski is charged with theft and receiving stolen property.The affidavit filed by Tom said Amy Burns stated that she had owed Rivera $90. She met Rivera, Urbanski and Grant at another residence on Dec. 9, and Rivera said he wanted his money, the affidavit said. Amy told Rivera she would sell items to repay the loan.Tom says in the affidavit that when Amy Burns returned home, she discovered her house was ransacked.Missing were a 55-inch television, a brooch and sapphire/diamond platinum set, iPod, ear buds with charging station, Kindle and Tag Heuer watch.Tom said Rivera admitted taking the TV and transporting it to Philadelphia, believing it would cover the $90 that was owed to him.
