Palmerton man admits to trespass, theft counts
A Palmerton man admitted to criminal trespass and theft counts on Thursday in Carbon County court. He was one of 12 defendants in pending criminal cases to enter a guilty plea before Senior Judge Richard W. Webb.
Prior recordJesse James Neff II, 30, pleaded guilty to one count of criminal trespass and theft for an incident on Feb. 27 in Lower Towamensing Township, and another count of theft for an incident on Aug. 24, 2009, in Palmerton.In the February incident he was charged with his part in entering the home of Richard and Barbara Frank along Cherry Hill Rd. A charge of burglary was dropped in a plea bargain.For the August 2009 incident he admitted taking a ESP guitar of his brothers, Jereme Neff, and selling it at a pawn shop.Neff is no stranger to the criminal court system. Webb told the defendant, "You have an unbelievable rap sheet." He added, "When are you going to grow up?"Webb deferred sentencing and ordered a presentence investigation (PSI) be prepared by the adult probation office. Neff is currently in custody on the Carbon matters and also has a federal detainer filed against him. He was on federal parole when arrested for the Carbon counts.Other pleasOther defendants who entered guilty pleas included:Jeremy Hirochek, 19, of Nesquehoning, pleaded to one count each of aggravated and simple assault, institutional vandalism and harassment.He was arrested on Aug. 6, 2009, in Nesquehoning when police respnded to 17 W. High St. for an unwanted person. At the scene officers found Hirochek causing a disturbance. He also assaulted a resident of the area, Michael Tatusko.While being placed under arrest and later at the borough police station he was unruly and kicked officer Carl Breiner. He also damaged the holding cell at the station. He has been in the county jail since his arrest.Webb accepted the plea but deferred sentencing and ordered a PSI which will include both a drug and aclohol (D&A) and mental health evaluations.Jeffrey Boyer, 46, of Palmerton, pleaded to one count of defiant trespass. He was arrested on Aug. 22 at the Palmerton Hotel where he refused to leave. When police arrived he was told eight times to leave but refused. He admitted being highly intoxicated at the time.Boyer is currently in the county prison serving a sentence related to a domestic relations matter.Webb sentenced him to time served (11 days) to one year in jail and paroled him. He was ordered to get a D&A evaluation and zero tolerance was imposed on D&A use.He was returned to the prison to finish serving his current sentence.Lisa M. Walck, 27, of Tamaqua, pleaded to one count of theft. She was charged by Lehighton police with taking a debit card of his sister, Michelle Gable, and attemping to use it at a ATM machine. She failed to use it because she did not have the pin number.Webb placed her on probation for a year.Immediately following the proceeding Walck was taken into custody by the sheriff's department for an outstanding criminal warrant in another case.Raymond C. Mayes Jr., 23, of Lehighton, pleaded guilty to criminal counts in two pending cases.He pleaded to one count of simple assault for an incident on Oct. 13, 2009, in Weissport. State police charged him with assaulting Jamie Lynn Stull, in what was termed a domestic incident.He pleaded to one count of possession of drug paraphernalia for an incident on June 19 at the Garden of Gypsy Hill Apartments in Lehighton. Police responded to the area for a reported drug incident and found Mayes with drug paraphernalia.Webb placed him on probation for a year on each count, running concurrently.Katrina Marie Vandling, 21, of Lansford, pleaded to one count of retail theft. She was arrested on March 21, 2009, by Mahoning Township police for an incident at the Walmart store. She took $34.33 worth of merchandise without paying for it.Webb placed her on probation for a year and ordered she to perform three hours of community service per month while on probation.Brandon Michael Coulson, 21, of Palmerton, pleaded to one count of crminal mischief. He was arrested on Aug. 20 for entering the property at 1003 Mauch Chunk Road in Palmerton and caused damages.Webb placed him on probation for six months, which runs concurrent with a parole violation sentence he is currently serving in Lehigh County.Danielle D. Eremus, 22, of Lehighton, pleaded to one count of theft. She was charged by Mahoning Township police with stealing a purse from the vehicle of Kayla Snyder in the parking lot of the Walmart store.While police at the scene they received a call for shoplifters being detained in the store. One of the shoplifters was Eremus. The purse was found in her possession.She is currently in the county jail on a parole violation with a hearing on that matter pending.Webb placed her on probation for a year.Jarred Matthew Dillman, 20, of Palmerton, pleaded to one count each of unauthorized use of an automobile and criminal conspiracy-theft. He was arrested by Palmerton police for taking the 1994 Ford Taurus of Lisa Kay Handwerk. He later abandoned the vehicle in a ditch in Towamensing Township.Webb accepted the plea and ordered a PSI be prepared.Robert Schenck, 46, of Allentown, pleaded to one count of accidents involving damage to an attended vehicle. He was arrested by state police for an incident along the northeast extension of the turnpike in East Penn Township.Schenck was driving a commerical truck and sideswiped another vehicle near the Lehigh tunnels, then fled the scene. He was later stopped by troopers near the Allentown interchange.Webb sentenced him to time served (four days) to one year in jail and paroled him. It was noted a civil suit was filed in the matter by the driver of the struck vehicle and a settlement has already been made.Ricky Elton Stevens, 27, of Palmerton, pleaded to two counts of harassment, as summary offenses. He was arrested on April 4 by state police for an incident in Towamensing Township.Webb imposed a total of $400 in fines.Jose David Maldonado, 53, of Palmerton, Towamensing Township, pleaded to one count of theft of services. He was charged by state police with tampering with the electric service meter of PPL and as a result received $1,985.08 worth of electrical service for free.Webb placed him on probation for a year and ordered he make restitution for the amount of the service he gained illegally.Each defendant must also pay court costs and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
