Nearly three years after Lansford’s engineer wanted to issue a demolition order on a decaying Kline Avenue home, the owner is being given notice, Council President Joe Genits said this week.
ARRO Consulting wanted to issue a demolition order on a double home at 205-207 W. Kline Ave. in October 2023.
Council members at the time said they wanted to see photographs of the property, which had visible cracks in the exterior and holes in the roof. Council didn’t want to see taxpayer dollars fund the demolition.
Three years later, the borough is taking action, Genits said. Code enforcement gave notice to the owner, who plans to demolish the structure by the end of the month, he said.
The structure currently has yellow caution tape up around the front of the property and no longer appears to have a roof.
Genits said if the owner does not cooperate with the borough to raze the structure, then the borough would take action in Carbon County Court as a nuisance property and require demolition at the owner’s expense.
