Carbon County judges recently conduct parole/probation revocation hearings on petitions filed by the adult probation office against numerous defendants who violated the terms of their release.
Christine Maniaci, 52, of Nesquehoning had her parole revoked on a charge of driving under the influence on petition of probation officer Clifford Eckhart for violating conditions by failing to report to the probation office as directed and absconding from her approved residence.Judge Joseph J. Matika resentenced her to serve 90 days back time in the county prison effective July 18 with credit for 46 days already served.Anthony Naimon, 47, of Jim Thorpe, had his parole revoked on a charge of DUI on petition of probation officer Joseph Bettine for violating conditions by testing positive for opiates, which violated the zero-tolerance condition.Matika resentenced him to serve 30 days "street time" effective July 7.Michelle Canzoneri, 30, of Nesquehoning had her parole revoked on a charge of DUI and probation on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia on petition of Eckhart for violating conditions by being charged with a new criminal offense, testing positive for a controlled substance and failing to complete community service time.Matika resentenced her to serve a total of six to 12 months in prison effective July 7 with credit for 146 days already served.Greg Vandermartin, 30, of Nesquehoning had his parole revoked on a charge of possession of drugs on petition of Eckhart for violating conditions by being charged with a new criminal offense, admitted using a controlled substance, violating the zero-tolerance condition and failing to submit to a scheduled drug screen.Matika resentenced him to serve the balance of his sentence, which runs to Aug. 13.David Miller, 28, of Weatherly, had his parole revoked on a charge of theft on petition of Bettine for violating conditions by not making a concerted effort to pay court costs, failing to complete drug and alcohol treatment and failing to complete community service.Matika resentenced him to serve three months' back time effective Nov. 1 at 9 a.m. However, if he pays $1,475 on his costs, plus his regularly monthly payment and completes 100 hours of community service by that time, the revocation order will be vacated.Katelynn Solt, 23, of Lehighton, had her parole and probation revoked in two cases on charges of receiving stolen property and possession of drug paraphernalia on petition of probation officer Kimberly Cooper for violating conditions by failing to follow weekly urine screen schedule, which violated the zero-tolerance condition.Judge Steven R. Serfass resentenced her to serve a total of three to 12 months with her minimum release date being Oct. 29.Jestine Sarau, 38, of Walnutport, had her parole revoked on a charge of theft on petition of Bettine for violating conditions by not making a concerted effort to pay court costs.Matika resentenced her to serve three months' back time effective Nov. 1. However, if she pays $395 on court costs plus her regularly monthly payments and completes 100 hours of community service by that date, then the order will be vacated.Megan Maguschak, 24, of Beaver Meadows had her parole/probation revoked in two cases on two counts of burglary on petition of Bettine for violating conditions by being arrested on new criminal charges, testing positive for opiates, and failing to report for her schedule urine screen, which violated the zero-tolerance condition.Matika resentenced her to serve a total of 328 days "street time" effective Sept. 1, 2015.James Simmons, 24, of Weatherly, had his probation revoked on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia on petition of Eckhart for violating conditions by failing to report a change of address, possession of a controlled substance and being unsuccessfully discharged from the Salvation Army inpatient treatment program.Serfass resentenced him to serve 60 days to 12 months in prison with 49 days credit for time already served, effective June 27.Bethann Neff, 28, of Walnutport had her probation revoked on a charge of theft on petition of Eckhart for violating conditions by testing positive for a controlled substance, which violated the zero-tolerance condition.Serfass resentenced her to serve 90 days to 12 months in prison with credit for 75 days already served. He will serve the remaining 15 days on consecutive weekends that began on July 1 at 5 p.m.John Urso, 37, of Lansford had his parole revoked on a charge of simple assault on petition of Eckhart for violating conditions by failing to report to the probation office as directed, repeatedly testing positive for controlled substances, failing to submit for scheduled urine screens, failing to make payments on court costs, failing to attend and complete drug and alcohol treatment, failing to attend anger management counseling and failing to perform community service.Matika resentenced him to serve 161 days back time effective June 23 with credit for 70 days already served.Christian Bennett, 26, of Weatherly had his parole revoked on a charge of possession of a small amount of marijuana on petition of Bettine for violating conditions by failing to complete drug and alcohol treatment.Matika resentenced him to serve four months back time effective April 16.ARD revokedThe following had their placement in the Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program revoked for violating conditions.Harry Gasker, 32, andJason Martonyak, 31, both of Nesquehoning, andMonica Walck, 28, of Summit Hill, were placed on DUI charges; andCorey Schlier, 29, of Lansford, on fleeing and eluding charges.All four had their cases placed on the next available trial list.
