MCTC introduces its 'community heroes'

Four local residents have been selected by Mauch Chunk Trust Company as "2014 Community Heroes" in recognition of their outstanding volunteer contributions.

The award recipients, nominated by community residents, will be recognized at a banquet in their honor on Wednesday, June 18, at The Mahoning Valley Country Club in Lehighton.At that time, Mauch Chunk Trust will present each recipient with an award and a $200 donation to the charity of his or her choice.The charities selected by this year's Community Heroes are: Carbon County Dream Come True, Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House, Meals on Wheels of Palmerton, Dream Come True Blue Ridge Chapter, Lehighton Public Library, and Gnaden Huetten Memorial Hospital.The 2014 MCT Community Heroes award recipients are:• William H. Diehm, Jim Thorpe, for his contributions to St. John's & St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Jim Thorpe, Race Street Run, American Legion Post 304, Carbon County Oratorical Contest.Maple Shade Nursing Home, Jim Thorpe Fire Department, Marion Hose Company, Phoenix Hose Company, Diligent Fire Company, Fairview Hose Company, Mauch Chunk Fireman's Relief Association.Jim Thorpe Sportsmen's Club, Mauch Chunk Rod & Gun Club, Carbon County Ancient Order of Hibernians, Fire Company Easter Egg Hunt for kids, Fire Company Christmas Program for kids, U.S. Army Annual Reunions Committee, and High School Class Reunion Committee.• Ralph C.
