Solar farm revising proposal

Developers of a proposed solar farm at a former golf course in West Penn Township plan to scale back the project.

In his report to township supervisors Monday, solicitor Paul Datte said Hole-In-One Solar Farm LLC intends to resubmit a new plan for the project at the former Villas Crossing Golf Course on Golf Road.

“I am in touch with the attorneys for the developer,” Datte said. “They are going to resubmit and it is going to be a scaled-down version of what was originally proposed.”

Datte, however, was not aware of any new details.

“I will keep the board informed,” he said.

In September, supervisors denied a request for a 90-day extension from developers. It was the third extension requested, and would have brought the new action date to Jan. 22.

In May, supervisors granted an extension until July 22. And in August, they granted another extension, which brought the date to Oct. 22.

Developers noted in October that if supervisors didn’t reconsider granting the most recently requested extension, they would withdraw their original plans and resubmit new ones.

The plans are for a small project with fewer solar panels and more effective and efficient stormwater controls.

Also during the meeting, it was noted that:

• Restrooms at Morgan Park have been winterized and are closed for the season.

• A parking lot at Atlas Park has been paved, and drainage was installed.

• The township road crew is reading for winter, and recently installed plow markers on township roads.
