Nesquehoning plans free vets dinner

Nesquehoning is gearing up to honor the veterans of the community with a free meal next week.

The Nesquehoning Historical Society will host the third annual Veterans Day Dinner for all area veterans. The event will take place from 2-5 p.m. on Monday at the New Columbus Fire Company, 7 E. Diaz Ave.

Veterans may bring one guest with them to the dinner, which consists of ham or turkey and all the trimmings.

The tradition of honoring the area’s veterans with a free meal began in 2024, when the historical society organized the event.

Last year, approximately 85 veterans were served a meal to thank them for all they have done.

“This means everything to be able to do this,” Lois Kuba, president of the historical society, said during last year’s event. “They gave everything for us so it’s just a small thing we could give back to them.”

Reservations should be made by calling Lois at 570-249-0364 or Mary at 570-764-4931.
