November 3, 2006 — Cory Whitehead’s 38-yard field goal as time expires in regulation forces overtime and Justin Mooney’s touchdown run in overtime lifts Lehighton to a thrilling 27-20 victory over rival Jim Thorpe. With one minute left in the fourth quarter and trailing by three points, the Indians take over and drive for the tying field goal. Mooney runs for nine yards before connecting with Shane McEvoy for 33 yards on a fourth-down play. After another pass, Mooney spikes the ball with a second left to set up Whitehead. In OT, Mooney scores from two yards out and Gary Fedor intercepts a pass on defense to give Lehighton the win. In a losing effort, Craig Zurn rushes for 197 yards.
