Area residents can dance their way toward a hunger-free community during a special Halloween Zumbathon benefiting the 2026 Tamaqua Area Hunger Campaign.
The event will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday from The Perla Building, 105 W. Broad St., Tamaqua.
Hosted by Lia Mortel Zius of Zumba and Dance Fitness with Lia, the fundraiser will bring together music, movement and community spirit in support of local hunger-relief programs.
All proceeds from admission costs will benefit Tamaqua’s food pantries. Registration is being taken by contacting Brian Turner at The Perla Building Fitness Center or by leaving a message for him at 570-225-7381.
Participants of all fitness levels are welcome, whether they are experienced Zumba enthusiasts or simply looking for a fun way to support their neighbors.
Halloween costumes are encouraged and prizes will be awarded for the best costumes.
The Zumbathon offers another opportunity for the community to make a difference during the hunger campaign. The campaign supports four local food pantries and one baby food ministry, helping individuals and families facing food insecurity throughout the area.
The campaign is a cooperative effort of the Tamaqua Area Faith Fellowship Network and the Tamaqua Area Community Partnership.
Donations of any amount also are welcome from those who wish to support the cause but cannot attend the event.
