Kidder supervisors remember Planning Commission member

A moment of silence was held prior to Kidder Township’s supervisors meeting in memory of Robert Dobosh who served Kidder Township in numerous capacities.

Dobosh was the Emergency Services coordinator and chair of the Planning Commission. From 1987 to 2018, he worked for building codes and zoning.

In other business, Emmanuel DaCosta, representing the Lions Club, is trying to start the organization up again in Kidder Township and surrounding areas.

“We did a lot of good,” DaCosta said. “I’m 82 years old and want to start again.”

DaCosta was a Lions Club member for 38 years and wants to bring back the service organization to help the community.

Anyone interested in joining can contact him at 610-377-4663 or pick up an application at the Kidder Township municipal building.

Roof repair was approved for the Albrightsville Schoolhouse at 2452 Route 534. The repair will cost $3,182.65. The schoolhouse was built in the 1800s and last had a class there in the late 1940s.

At this point, the township is not certain what it will be used for in the future. Local residents are interested in doing other repairs.

Split Rock resident Paul Spaventa expressed concern about roads not being plowed and ice melt not being put down during the winter. He asked if the township could come up with a plan because he goes to the post office frequently to pick up medication.

Supervisor Louis Pantages said, “We will see how things pan out. The roads have begun to be graded, with some maintenance being done.”

The Albrightsville Fire company will be collecting toys for the holiday season. It reported 19 calls for September.

The Lake Harmony Fire Department reported 48 calls for September.

There were 231 calls to the Kidder Police Department with 41 citations issued.

Kidder’s two-year contract with Signal Service, who repairs traffic lights, was ratified.

The township’s 2021 Ford will be traded in for the lease purchase of a 2026 Chevy Tahoe at a cost of $71,671.81.

The November and December supervisors meeting will be rescheduled due to holidays. The November meeting will be held at 6 p.m. on Nov. 24 and December’s meeting will be at 6 p.m. on Dec. 17. The next budget meeting will be held at 5 p.m. on Nov. 12.
