The Slatington Public Library’s 30th annual Basket Social drew strong community support, featuring a record 326 baskets at the Sept. 26 fundraiser held at the Slatedale Fire Company.
In addition to the basket raffle, attendees had the opportunity to win several special prizes, including a gift card frame valued at $240 donated by the United Presbyterian Church of Slatington; two outdoor lounge chairs donated by Cliff Rehrig; and $100 in lottery tickets donated by the library.
Library officials thanked patrons, local businesses and volunteers for contributing baskets, gift cards, gift certificates and monetary donations that helped make the event a success. Special recognition was given to Alice Harper, who has coordinated the basket portion of the fundraiser for several years.
The library also expressed its appreciation to the Slatedale Fire Company for hosting the event and to its volunteers, and kitchen staff for their support.
The Slatington Public Free Library is seeking a Slatington Borough resident to fill a vacancy on its board of trustees. Residents interested in serving may call the library at 610-767-6461 for additional information.
