Rummage sale

A rummage sale will be held at St. John UCC, 150 Pine St., Tamaqua, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Oct. 10 and 12 in the church’s Fellowship Hall. Women’s and men’s clothing, household items, toys, books, small appliances, decorations and more will be offered for sale, no reasonable offer will be refused.

St. Peter’s — West Penn

The 9 a.m. Sunday worship service at St. Peter’s Church in West Penn will be held outdoors, weather permitting. There will be a blessing of the animals. Sunday school meets at 10:15 a.m. followed by the church board at 11 a.m.

On Oct. 1, there will be a “Hope in the Middle” podcast on Facebook, and the Senior Choir will rehearse at 11 a.m.

The 9 a.m. on Oct. 4 service is World Communion. Apple dumpling orders are due 10:15 a.m.

Basket raffle

A basket raffle will be held on Oct. 18 at St. John XXIII Church, 307 Pine St., Tamaqua.

All are invited. Browsing will be held from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 17, and 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Oct. 18. Drawing begins at 1 p.m. Refreshments, including baked goods, will be sold both days. Participants need not be present at the drawing.

All prizes must be picked up by Oct. 25. More information is available on the Facebook page “St. John XXIII Basket Raffle.”

Calvary Lewistown

Pastor Deb Rogers will bring the message at the 11 a.m. Sunday service at Calvary Evangelical Church in Lewistown Valley. The Sunday evening service is at 6:30 p.m.

The prayer and share is at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

The annual Calvary Evangelical Rally Day is on Oct. 11 with biblically based presentations at 11 a.m. and an evening service at 6:30 p.m. At the later service, Jared and Katie Wehry will present music, with Jared playing multiple instruments. They will sing and present the Gospel message.

Zion Lewistown

Zion men will meet at 8 a.m. Saturday at Memorial Hall.

Pastor Jim Williams will officiate the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service at Zion Church in Lewistown Valley. The adult’s and children’s Sunday school are at 9:30 a.m., as well as the women’s Bible Study.

Tamaqua Seniors

The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met on Sept. 17 with 25 members present.

Two new members were welcomed to the group. One member is celebrating a birthday. The meeting closed and bingo was played.

The group meets at 1 p.m. Thursdays at the Coaldale Complex. Anyone 55 and older is invited.

Rush-Ryan-Delano Seniors

The Rush, Ryan and Delano Senior Citizens met on Sept. 22 with 27 members present.

President Jayne McLaughlin opened the meeting with the invocation, “The Golden Path,” recited by a member.

The group chanced off a fall wreath, which was won by a member. The seniors celebrated a member’s birthday with barbecue chips and cupcakes made by a daughter. Drinks were provided.

The group was asked to keep a member in their prayers.

The meeting closed and bingo was played. The next meeting will be at 1 p.m. on Oct. 13 at Christ Church in Barnesville.
