Nesquehoning has officially cut ties with its borough secretary/treasurer.

During borough council’s monthly meeting on Wednesday, council approved the termination of Deborah DelFranco, who has been on unpaid administrative leave since the end of August. Councilman Josh Jacobs was not at the meeting.

There was no discussion prior to the motion; however, after the motion passed, a second motion to ratify council’s recent advertisement for candidates to apply for the borough secretary/treasurer position was made and passed.

Council has been looking into the matter since last month but did not release any details on why they chose to end DelFranco’s employment, only saying it is a personnel matter.

Last month, council President Bruce Nalesnik said that the treasurer duties are being outsourced at this time; while secretary duties were being handled in-house.

DelFranco had been employed as Nesquehoning’s borough secretary/treasurer since November 2023. She previously had served as Rush Township’s secretary/treasurer.
