The Curse of Camelback open for haunting
The mountain has been contaminated, and Camelback Resort is sending guests into the danger zone.
The Curse of Camelback, a brand-new immersive Halloween attraction, is now open Thursdays and Sundays from 6-10 p.m., and until midnight Fridays and Saturdays through Nov. 8 at Camelbeach.
The attraction transforms the waterpark and surrounding mountain terrain into a postapocalyptic nightmare filled with toxic fumes, mutated residents, eerie tunnels and unexpected scares.
Tickets can be booked online at www.CamelbackResort.com.
The experience begins at the base of the mountain, where guests are recruited for a fictional emergency-response mission after chemicals from new trail construction mix with pool-cleaning compounds, creating toxic fumes that spread throughout the mountain and cause those exposed to them to mutate.
Guests board the mountain lift and travel into the Containment Zone, where they navigate fog-filled attractions, abandoned camps, chemical spills, barricades, eerie tunnels and mazelike paths while encountering mutated characters and jump scares along the way. Elaborate sets, special effects and costumed characters help bring the fictional outbreak to life.
The mission reaches its final stage with an encounter with Gary, the outbreak’s hideously transformed “patient zero.” Guests must make their escape through a series of final scares before reaching the Decontamination Zone — where the mission ends and Halloween treats and drinks await.
Located at the end of The Curse of Camelback, the Decontamination Zone offers Halloween-themed food and drinks available for purchase, giving guests a chance to refuel after making it through the attraction.
The offerings include doughnuts and cider, with hot chocolate, hot apple cider and fresh, warm doughnut holes in cinnamon sugar or double chocolate-filled varieties.
Apple Dippin’ features apples dipped in caramel or chocolate and finished with Halloween toppings including Oreos, candy corn, mini M&M’s and Halloween sprinkles.
For a hands-on finale, guests can roast their own Biohazard S’mores at the Biohazard Storage Drum Fire Pits. The s’mores experience includes a 36-inch roasting stick, a choice of chocolate or plain graham crackers, vanilla or house-made “Mutated Apple” marshmallows and broken milk or dark chocolate slabs.
