Local representatives announced grants in Lehigh, Monroe and Northampton counties.

State Rep. Jack Rader said that over $1.7 million in Local Share Account grants have been approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority to support critical infrastructure improvements and public safety projects across Monroe County.

Local Share Account grants are funded through gaming revenues and are used to support economic development, community improvement and public interest projects.

“I’m happy to see this state funding coming into the 176th District for projects that will have a real impact on our community,” Rader said.

Projects include:

• Chestnuthill Township — $200,000 for the construction of a new ADA compliant sidewalk and associated infrastructure improvements along Route 715. The project will create a safe pedestrian connection between the Chestnuthill Township Shared Emergency Services facility and the existing sidewalk network serving St. Luke’s Urgent Care.

• Jackson Township — $266,880 to purchase highway equipment, including a new wheel loader to replace the existing 2017 model, as well as a pickup broom and snow wing.

• Monroe County — $54,280 to replace deteriorated doors at the Monroe County Fireman’s Association “burn building” training facility in Hamilton Township. The upgrades will enhance security and ensure the facility remains safe and functional for firefighting, law enforcement and emergency services training.

• Monroe County Industrial Development Authority, on behalf of Eldred Township — $600,000 to replace the roof of the Eldred Township Community Center. The building requires a full roof replacement due to significant deterioration. The project includes substrate preparation, installation of insulation, crickets and slumps, and all necessary roofing materials. LSA funds will support construction and administrative costs.

• Monroe County Industrial Development Authority, on behalf of the Monroe County Municipal Waste Management Authority — $256,116 to purchase a new hook lift truck for the Monroe County Municipal Waste Management Authority in Tobyhanna Township.

• Tobyhanna Township — $350,000 to rehabilitate the aging 30-year-old Emergency Services Building. The improvements will extend the building’s service life and ensure it remains a safe, functional facility for emergency operations.

Sen. Nick Miller announced $9,116,099 in funding across the Lehigh Valley in Commonwealth Financing Authority Local Share Account grants for various projects in the 14th Senatorial District.

“These investments are about delivering results for our communities,” Miller said.

Projects in Lehigh County:

• $650,000 to the Lehigh Northampton Airport Authority to purchase and install elevators, parking access equipment and EV charging stations for the new five-level airport parking garage.

• $380,000 to Lil’ Le Hi Fish Hatchery for critical upgrades to fish production infrastructure through restoration and epoxy coating of multiple ponds and installation of new aerators to improve capacity and fish health.

• $384,048 to the Civic Theatre of Allentown to complete capital improvements addressing structural deterioration, water intrusion, energy inefficiency and safety hazards, including replacing deteriorated rehearsal hall windows, rusted and misaligned exterior doors, outdated bathrooms, and sealing the building envelope to prevent stormwater leaks.

• $855,000 to the Allentown Art Museum to design a new facility to replace the aging museum building, enabling the museum to better meet community needs.

• $50,000 to the Da Vinci Science Center to purchase an SUV, a mobile planetarium, and virtual reality equipment to support expanded educational outreach programs.

• $29,400 to Planned Parenthood Keystone’s Allentown Health Center for infrastructure improvements, including installation of a supplemental ductless mini split system and updated interior paint and finishes that have deteriorated over years of use.

Projects in Northampton County:

• $925,119 to the Lehigh Township Municipal Authority for the City of Bethlehem Interconnection Water Main Project to extend the water main for the proposed interconnection.

• $300,000 to the Lehigh Township Volunteer Fire Department to purchase radios for municipal and emergency service operations, replacing aging equipment lacking interoperability, purchasing 45 portable and 20 mobile radios for municipal and emergency service use.

• $150,000 to HCSC Blood Center to purchase two bloodmobiles for use in Northampton County.

• $100,000 to Walnutport Borough to purchase a dump truck for the Public Works Department to replace a 25-year-old vehicle with mechanical and body issues.

• $41,472 to Walnutport Borough to purchase new police equipment including Tasers, vehicle cameras and body cameras.
