The Cranberry Quilt Guild will present “Celebrate America” this weekend.

The show will be held 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Weatherly Middle School Complex.

This year’s show will highlight patriotic quilts among the many other quilted categories with bed quilts of all sizes, quilted throws and home decor pieces. Collage and appliqué are always a hit with the crowds, and this year a feature called ‘Turning down the Bed’ will be demonstrated at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. During this presentation an explanation of many quilts will be given.

Featured will be a host of antique quilts, many up to 75 years old, and a family wedding-themed crazy quilt.

A Cranberry Quilt Guild Quilt of Valor presentation will take place at 1 p.m. This event is a short history of the recipient veteran and the presentation of their quilt. Nationwide, Quilts of Valor Foundation has presented more than 430,000 handmade quilts since it was founded in 2003.

Cranberry is proud to be a member, and as a group has presented close to 100 to local veterans.

This year’s event also includes a food court, bake sale, tricky trays, quilt boutique, mini quilt and handbag raffle. There will be a raffle quilt with tickets available at the show. Vendors also will be present for shopping and browsing.
