A Lansford man faces criminal charges after people say he pointed a gun at a vehicle outside a West Ridge Street business.

Edmund Czipecki, 71, of West Ridge Street, was charged with simple assault, reckless endangerment, terroristic threats, harassment and public drunkenness in the Sept. 5 incident.

The charges were held for Carbon County Court of Common Pleas following a preliminary hearing last week before District Judge Beth Dodson. He is free on $50,000 unsecured bail.

According to court papers, a woman called the Carbon County Communications center to report a man pointing a firearm at a vehicle at 1:14 p.m.

Borough police responded and spoke to people at Cabrera’s Restaurant, who said a man pointed a long firearm at a vehicle outside the residence. They indicated who the man was and where he lived.

Officers went to his apartment, and Czipecki denied ever going outside. Another person in the residence asked him what he did when he went downstairs, court papers said.

Officers asked if he owned a gun, and he replied that they weren’t taking his gun, court papers said.

Czipecki told police that he went downstairs because he was tired of the music.

Officers secured the shotgun, which was resting near the entrance to his bedroom, and took Czipecki into custody.
