McArdle, Horvath contributing for King’s volleyball team

The King’s College Volleyball team is off to a strong start to the season with an early 6-1 record. The Schuylkill League is well represented on their team as their two captains are senior Emma Bolich, a Pottsville Nativity graduate, and junior Riley McArdle of Panther Valley, while Marian Catholic alum, freshman Isabella Horvath, has already made key contributions.

McArdle, in her third year for the Lady Monarchs, recently surpassed a milestone by surpassing 500 career digs. Switching her position to libero this year, she leads the team in digs with 137 through seven games, including a career high 41 in the opening match of the season. She is currently ranked 16th in the nation in digs.

Horvath, a freshman defensive specialist and libero has played in all seven matches this year and has contributed in a variety of ways. The former Fillie is sixth on the team in both digs (29) and aces (6), and has an excellent reception percentage of .958.

King’s opened up Conference play this week with a thrilling five-set victory over Farleigh Dickinson Florham University.
