With the two teams tied, Todd Freed intercepts a pass and returns the ball deep into Tiger territory to set up the go-ahead and eventual game-winning score. Northwestern threatens to tie or take the lead late in the frame but Freed intercepts another pass to secure the win. The Bulldogs, coached by George Yaniger, also receive a 27-yard TD pass from Dave Buhay to Steve Trainer. The Tigers’ only touchdown comes on a 64-yard kickoff return by Joey House.
