Mahoning Township supervisors took the following action recently:

• Agreed to send the data center ordinance to the township planning commission and Carbon County Planning Commission.

• Adopted an ordinance amending the township’s zoning ordinance to establish new regulations for distribution/fulfillment centers, truck terminals, warehouse uses, commercial solar power generation and accessory solar collectors.

• Authorized the township solicitor to handle the Walmart assessment appeal.

• Adopted a resolution for a single application for assistance for Local Share Account designating the board chair and secretary-treasurer officers to execute and provide all information for application for digital radios for the Mahoning Valley Fire Company in the amount of $162,000.

• Adopted a resolution for a single application for assistance for Local Share Account designating the board chair and secretary-treasurer to execute and provide all information for application for roof replacement for the Mahoning Valley Fire Company in the amount of $48,000.

• Adopted a resolution for the police pension plan contribution requirement for 2027, minimum municipal obligation, in the amount of $160,603.

• Adopted a resolution for the nonuniform pension plan contribution requirement for 2027, minimum municipal obligation in the amount of $51,336.

• Approved a letter of interest for Bruce Steigerwalt to serve on the township’s planning commission.

• Agreed to purchase tires for the road crew pickup truck from Snyder Tire at the rate of $240 apiece.

• Approved the Oriel planning modules, after the planning commission previously recommended signing and forwarding them to DEP.
