Three people are facing charges following an altercation that occurred after a race on July 25 at the Evergreen Raceway in Butler Township.

Butler Township police said that Gordon John Buchman, 61, and Gordon Thomas Buchman, 31, both of Drums, are facing criminal charges and have been ordered to appear in magisterial district court next month, while Joseph Novak, 62, of Tresckow, was cited for harassment and disorderly conduct.

Police said they were summoned to the raceway at 183 Mill Mountain Road at around 11:30 p.m. July 25 for a report of several individuals assaulting a person.

Upon arrival, police interviewed the victim, who had participated in a race at the speedway that night, who told them he was having his vehicle inspected following the race when he was approached by an angry group of people who were upset about an incident that had occurred during the race. According to the complaint, the victim was eventually confronted and cornered near his vehicle.

He told police the elder Gordon Buchman punched him in the jaw during the altercation while Gordon Thomas Buchman threatened to kill him during the incident.

Gordon John Buchman was charged with simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct, while Gordon Thomas Buchman was charged with terroristic threats and harassment.

Novak, who police said participated in the altercation, pleaded guilty to the two citations filed against him.
