State police at Bethlehem - crashes

State police at the Bethlehem barracks reported the following crashes:

• Nicholas S. Bertsch, 20, of Slatington, was involved in a two-vehicle crash at 5:49 a.m. Sept. 2 at the intersection of Mauch Chunk Road and Hill Street, North Whitehall Township.

Police said he refused a medical services transport from the scene.

They said he was driving a 2011 Ford F-150 south on Mauch Chunk Road behind an unidentified vehicle that was behind a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Matthew P. Noctor, 42, of Allentown.

Police said as Noctor came to a complete stop anticipating a turn onto Hill Street, the unidentified vehicle went around the Silverado but Bertsch was unable to stop and the F-150 hit the back of the stopped vehicle.

Bertsch was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed, according to police.

• Nancy J. Rothrock, 72, of Slatington, was cited after a one-vehicle crash at 7:15 a.m. Sept. 1 on Glencrest Road, Washington Township, police said. She was uninjured in the incident.

Police said she was driving a 2015 Subaru Crosstrek west when it failed to maintain its lane of travel, veered off the road, traveled through a grassy area and down an embankment and then hit a tree.

The Subaru had disabling damage.
