Juveniles who fled on dirt bikes in Palmerton to be charged

Two juveniles who fled on dirt bikes from Palmerton Borough Police on Saturday have been identified and apprehended.

Palmerton Borough Police Department sought the public’s assistance to identify the two suspects involved in an incident that occurred at around 5 p.m. Saturday, according to patrolman Adam Shimer.

Police reported at that time the two male suspects fled from police while traveling on dirt bikes from East Lane to the catwalk on Fifth Street. One was on a red/black dirt bike, and the second male on a blue or black dirt bike.

Police asked on social media for help identifying the suspects and by 6:48 p.m. Saturday, they were identified and the illegal bikes had been impounded.

Police thanked everyone for their assistance. The suspects were later caught and released pending formal charges being filed.

Shimer said they will both be charged with fleeing and alluding, flight to prevent apprehension, as well as summary charges.

The names will not be released because they are juveniles, Shimer said.
