A military drop off for our deployed troops is being conducted at the Lansford Legion, Summit Hill Legion or VFW Nesquehoning.

People are asked to drop off recommended care package items:

• Heat Resistant Snacks: Protein bars, nuts, sunflower seeds, trail mix and beef jerky. Avoid chocolate or anything that melts some hard candy is OK.

• Powdered Drinks: Liquid I.V. or Gatorade packets for hydration in desert climates. Prepackaged.

• Hygiene and Comfort: Wet wipes, lip balm with SPF, Gold Bond powder, cooling towels, and unscented deodorant, soap bars, disposable razors, travel size toiletries.

• Entertainment: small paperback books, puzzle books, playing cards, small board games, small earphones and thank you letters/cards/drawn pictures from kids or business.

Any monetary donations, cash or gift cards for packaging. No glass. No chocolate. No aerosols. Any questions please call and leave a message at 570-249-0306.

Deadline is Sept. 30, but the Legion will ship as many items as necessary from now until then.
