The investigation of the death of a Philadelphia woman that happened 23 years ago remains an open probe by criminal investigators from the Pennsylvania State Police, and a $5,000 reward remains in the offering for information that could lead to solving the cold case.
PSP Tips says information leading to the arrest of the person responsible for the May 23, 2003, death of Caryn J. Fortino could make the provider eligible for the reward.
State police at Troop L continue to look for clues regarding the finding of the 38-year-old woman’s body in a wooded area off Interstate 81 in Delano Township. State police at the Frackville barracks said her death was attributed to asphyxiation by strangulation.
Police do know Fortino last had contact with her family around February, 2003.
