Beltzville State Park has issued a hazardous algae warning for waterways in the park. The swimming beach is still open but people should not ingest water when swimming and should avoid contact with discolored water or film and wash immediately after contact. Additional water testing is being conducted to monitor the situation. Park activities on or near the lake are able to proceed with a reminder to use safe water recreation practices to protect yourself and pets from harmful algae and other possible water illnesses. People and pets should shower or bathe people and pets immediately after participating in water-based recreation activities. JARRAD HEDES/TIMES NEWS
