Lansford Borough Council moved ahead with one paving project but tabled two other streets projects at a special meeting Thursday night.

Council approved resurfacing Dock Street from Route 209 east to the previously improved roadway at an estimated cost of $29,542.

This portion of the road is near the No. 9 Coal Mine and Museum, and shared services will be used. The cost estimate was prepared by the state Liquid Fuels office.

Council tabled resurfacing the 100-block of East Front Street using shared services, because a cost estimate was not available.

Council hoped to use money from its sewage transmission fund for Front Street, but those funds can only be used for a trench repair. The street is also not wide enough to qualify for state Liquid Fuels funds.

Also tabled was the milling and resurfacing of Parkway Road from Route 209 to West Bertsch Street, provided there were enough Liquid Fuels funds available for the project.

The borough will first seek an estimate and guidance on how to proceed with the project from John Davis, of the state’s Liquid Fuels office. Shared services would also be used for the project.

In other business, council:

• Approved special event forms from K&D Investment Properties for ZooStock Outdoor Concert/Charity Event Sept. 7 from 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the parking area of 390 W. Snyder Ave., and from Lansford Alive for the annual Downtown Festival on Ridge Street from Tunnel to Coal streets from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sept. 26.

• Denied a request to waive a dumpster permit fee to do repairs/cleanout on a house. Carbon County Children and Youth Services sought the waiver of the $400 fee.

• Paid an invoice for $13,117.37 from Portnoff Law Associates for notices of delinquency.

• Approved accepting clean fill from the Lansford-Coaldale Joint Water Authority, provided it meets standards set by the borough engineer, ARRO Consulting. Council wants ARRO to inspect and certify in writing is suitable to fill in the pool. The approved fill could be placed at the pool complex.

• Approved advertising for bids for stone to cover the base of the former pool, per the borough’s engineer’s specifications. The rock will go down before any clean fill.

• Authorized the renewal of maturing certificates of deposit at Jim Thorpe Neighborhood Bank for six months at 3.60% and also approved paying bill and expenditures through Aug. 20.

• Set dates for budget meetings as follows: from 11 a.m. to noon on Sept. 8 and 22, Oct. 13 and 27, and Nov. 10 and 24. Council wants to adopt a tentative 2027 budget on Dec. 9.

• Set a conditional approval hearing for plans to construct an AutoZone store at 748 E. Patterson St, pending its highway occupancy permit and NPDS permit, at 5 p.m. on Sept. 9

• Purchased a sewer camera from U.S. Municipal Supply, a COSTARS vendor, for $89,159. The borough will use insurance funds from the fire at the borough garage, sewer transmission fund and available local service tax funds. The camera has a one-year warranty, and the borough will need to purchase a trailer, Councilman Joe Butrie said.

• Denied a move to amend the code of ordinances regarding the construction or reconstruction of sidewalks.

• Approved advertising for bids for work at the Ashton Park concession stand. Bids will be accepted until 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 9.

• Purchased three Dell Pro Rugged 14 computers for borough police at a cost of $7,968 as per the quote from Dan Moyer of Cloud Service Center LLC. The computers for the police vehicle will be paid through the LST funds.

• Purchased the necessary sewer line manhole components required to modify all manholes for safety requirements and upgrades in according with Coaldale-Lansford-Summit Hill Sewer Authority grant project. The cost is $23,775 and Monarch Precast is the vendor.
