The Pennsylvania State Police Troop Major Case Team is investigating a homicide that occurred in Freemansburg Borough, Northampton County, on Saturday.
State police at the Belfast barracks said at 6:09 a.m., officers from the Freemansburg Borough Police Department responded to the 20 block of Market Street for a 9-1-1 call. Officers found two people wih gunshot wounds and immediately began life-saving procedures, while taking a 27-year-old woman into custody.
Upon investigation, it was determined the woman, a Freemansburg resident, shot a 27-year-old woman and a 45-year-old man, both also from Freemansburg, in the front living room of the residence.
Both shooting victims were transported from the residence by the City of Bethlehem EMS and Bethlehem Township EMS to Saint Luke’s Hospital, Fountain Hill.
Police said the 27-year-old woman was pronounced deceased at the hospital at 7:16 a.m. The 45-year-old man remains hospitalized.
This incident remains under investigation and criminal charges are forthcoming, police said.
Assisting the Troop M Major Case Team in this investigation are representatives of the Northampton County District Attorneys Office, Northampton County Coroners Office, Troop M Forensic Services Unit, Troop M Collision Analysis Reconstruction Specialist (C.A.R.S.) Unit, PSP Computer Crimes Unit, Lower Saucon Township Police Department, Bethlehem Township Police Department and the Freemansburg Borough Police Department.
